Department of Natural Sciences

This department aims to promote four lines of knowledge: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, as well as Materials Science and Technology. These courses are taught in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science.

The work of the department is reflected in the strategic development focuses. At the undergraduate level, through the courses included in the curriculum. At postgraduate level, in the diploma course in Materials Science and Technology applied to Modern Engineering, which seeks to train professionals from Arequipa and the country.

Research is carried out in two research groups: Science and Technology of Materials (CITEM), and Polymers and Composites (POLICOM), and projects subsidized by CONCYTEC-Prociencia, which allow researchers to publish in indexed journals and develop patents based on their work.

As a projection and service to society, this department promotes activities that seek to contribute to technical and specialized development in production processes of companies, allowing constant improvement and sustainability. Solidarity projects are also carried out with volunteers and debates are held to inform the population.
